INGREDIENTS
- 1 large soft baguette or French or Italian loaf
- 1/2 pound Sweet Italian Sausage Links, bulk
- 1 package Boursin cheese, 5.3 ounces
- Extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped chives, for garnish
METHOD
- Preheat oven to 350°F
- Slice bread into 3/4 inch rounds or ovals and set aside
- In a bowl, mix sausage and Boursin until fully combined
- Spread about 2 tablespoons of the mixture evenly onto each slice, edge to edge
- Drizzle a sheet pan with olive oil and arrange crostini evenly
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until sausage is cooked through and bottoms are crisp
- Meanwhile, heat butter and 1 tablespoon olive oil in a sauté pan over medium heat
- Add onions, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until softened
- Stir in balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until glossy
To Serve
Top crostini with balsamic onions. Granish with fresh chopped chives. Mangia!
